How to Embed a Twitter Feed On Your Website’s Blog

Embedding interactive elements on your website’s blog is a great way to complement your image and video content.

Embedded content, in some cases, typically looks “cleaner” than simply taking a screenshot on your laptop. Some embedded elements are interactive as well, giving your blog visitors a unique user experience.

Twitter, one of today’s leading social media platforms, has embedding capabilities for tweets, likes, moments, and more. You may have seen news companies or roundup blogs embed Twitter feeds in their content. Here’s how to do so for your website.

How to embed a Twitter feed

In just a few minutes, you can embed virtually any tweet (or series of tweets) on your website with these steps:

  1. Go to https://publish.twitter.com/.
  2. Enter the URL of the tweet you’d like to embed.
  3. Customize the design of the tweet.
  4. Copy and paste the embed code in your blog’s source code.
  5. Publish your blog!

Here’s a quick step-by-step explanation of embedding Twitter feeds.

1. Go to publish.twitter

This is the main hub where users can embed tweets, likes, moments, and more – each with their specific layout. Here’s an example of the many options you have at your disposal.

2. Enter the tweet URL

To keep things simple, we’ll just be embedding a single tweet. Access Twitter through your laptop or desktop, and enter the URL of a tweet you’d like to embed.

You can copy links by clicking the drop-down arrow and selecting Copy link to Tweet. Then, paste the URL of the tweet in Twitter’s publishing hub.

3. Customize the design of the tweet

You can go ahead and copy the embed code, or you can customize the tweet’s format in a few ways. Click on Set customization options to get started.

Customization options include:

  • Light or dark themes.
  • Custom hex codes for changing the link color.
  • The language you’d like to display your tweet.
  • Limiting context by hiding conversations.

4. Embed the tweet in your blog

Just about every website builder has capabilities to access a blog’s source code. If you’re not entirely sure, visit our website building software category to learn more about your builder’s capabilities.

Access the source code on your blog and embed the tweet. We recommend previewing the blog before publishing in case any tweaks need to be made.

5. Publish your blog

As you can see below, we were able to embed our tweet quick and easily. Figured this would be a good time to plug our blog series on how we reached one million monthly visitors. 😉

Remember, there are more options than embedding single tweets. You can also embed full timelines, Twitter moments, profile and follow buttons, lists, and curated collections.

Part of crafting engaging tweets is knowing exactly when to publish them. Read our guide on the best times to post on Twitter to amp-up your social media marketing game.
